The Rowe Boulevard Bridge crosses Weems Creek just to the west of Ridgeley Avenue. Rowe Boulevard is considered the gateway to historic Annapolis.
The Rowe Boulevard Bridge has been examined in preparation for re-decking. Analysis has shown that the bridge will need to be replaced in its entirety. Issues surrounding the bridge replacement include:
Loss of trees and other buffers
Disturbance of the creek bed during construction
Width of Bridge and number of lanes
Light and Noise pollution reduction on new bridge
Watershed Study - January, 2002
The State Highway Administration has funded a Department of Natural Resources contract for a comprehensive watershed study of Weems Creek. The results of this study will help citizens and governmental organizations improve the watershed based on environmental priorities, and could specifically guide mitigation during and after construction of the replacement bridge.
